The Philippines top 40 billionaires (2012)

Although business tycoon Henry Sy who owns and controls SM Prime (the Philippines largest mall developer) retained his spot as the Philippines riches man with a net worth of $9.1 billion according to Forbes, it was Enrique Razon Jr. who just became a billionaire last year with $1.6 billion as the biggest gainer. He is now the country's third-richest person worth $3.6 billion who made his fortune from ports. The International Container Terminal Services (ICTS) is one of Asia's largest port operators and has expanded ever since to Europe, North America and the Middle East.

Lucio Tan with a net worth of $4.5 billion from diversified interests including cigarette giant Philip Morris-Fortune Tobacco, came in second. I remember he used to top the chart several years ago.

But do you know who's the youngest billionaire the island-nation is? It's none other than Edgar Sia, an architect-turned-entrepreneur and the man behind the popular Mang Inasal.
