Azkals beat Vietnam 1-0

After losing from powerhouse Thailand with a 2-1 score on Saturday, the Azkals are back with a vengeance, beating Vietnam 1-0. Thanks to Chieffy Caligdong who gave the team their winning goal after a strike from the left, following a good lob from Angel Guirado.

That goal by Caligdong was the only clear and definitely a good shot, unleashing the power of his left foot that gave Vietnamese keeper a slim chance of stopping it. Because of the good outcome of their game - their semifinal hopes in the AFF Suzuki Cup is absolutely on the rise. It gave the Philippines a three points full in Group A.

The outcome of the game might have changed. But I was happy when a close shot from Tan Tai hit the crossbar and bounced outside.

As for the Azkals, their win bounced them back to round up their semifinal campaign. If they beat the silent yet dangerous Myanmar on Friday, "see you at the semis Azkals," then.
