Chulalongkorn University ranks first in Thailand, 45th in Asia
Chulalongkorn University, Thailand's oldest and most prestigious university, was ranked 45th on the list of 350 Asian universities released by London education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) on June 14, 2016.
For years, CU or Chula continues to be on the forefront of top universities in the kingdom.
Other Thai universities who made it to the list are: Mahidol University at number 61, Thammasat University at number 101, Chiang Mai University at number 104, Kasetsart University at number 129, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi at number 161, Khon Kaen University at number 165 and Prince of Songkla University at 185.
The National University of Singapore (NUS) dominated the list, followed by University of Hongkong in second place and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore in third position.
According to The Nation report, the schools are rated in nine categories: academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), faculty/student ratio (15%), citations per paper (10%), papers per faculty (10%), staff with PhDs (5%), proportion of international faculty (2.5%), proportion of international students (2.5%), and proportion of inbound exchange students (2.5%).
